How to Connect MyEtherWallet and Koinly

How to connect MyEtherWallet with Koinly

MyEtherWallet (MEW) lets investors trade ETH, ERC20 tokens, NFTs and more on the Ethereum blockchain, as well as other Ethereum compatible blockchains like ETC, BSC and Polygon. Whatever your crypto investments, figuring out your MyEtherWallet taxes and creating your tax report couldn't be easier if you connect MEW with Koinly. MyEtherWallet connects to Koinly via API - all you need to do is grab your public address.

How to connect MyEtherWallet to Koinly via API

On MEW

1. Log in to your MyEtherWallet account.

2. From the top navigation, select Ethereum from the drop down menu.

  5. Select set up auto-sync.

Syncing other networks

Syncing your MEW wallet using the steps above will sync all of your Ethereum transactions. If you're also using your MEW wallet to interact with Binance Smart Chain or Polygon, you'll need to create separate networks for these wallets in Koinly. You can get your public address for BSC and Polygon in your MEW wallet by following the same steps above, but when you select the network from the top navigation, selecting the relevant network instead, i.e. Polygon or BSC. Once you've copied your public address, you'll need to create a new wallet in Koinly, like so:

  1. Log in to Koinly and head to the wallets page.
  2. Select add wallet in the top right corner.
  3. Search for the network you'd like to add - for example, Binance Smart Chain or Polygon.
  4. Select the network you want to add.
  5. Select set up auto-sync.
  6. Paste your public address from your MEW wallet.
  7. Select secure import.

How do I check that my MEW wallet import is accurate?

Does your MEW wallet transaction data not look quite right? Here's some simple steps on how to check your MyEtherWallet import.

Make sure you've added every wallet, exchange and blockchain you use

If you don't add every single wallet, Koinly may incorrectly identify transfers as sales - so make sure you connect every wallet and exchange you use via API or CSV import.

Check for big numbers

Got a big number that doesn't look right? Koinly is pretty good at detecting and merging your trades and transfers, but there are occasional edge cases where the data doesn't match up. Learn how to merge transactions.

Review the labels of your transactions

Koinly is pretty good at automatically detecting and labelling transactions - but you should always double check your transactions are tagged correctly. Here's how.

It's really helpful to use our Getting Started Guide before reviewing your transactions. This can help you identify and resolve any issues in no time at all.
