How to connect Polkawallet with Koinly

Polkawallet is a non-custodial mobile wallet built for the Polkadot ecosystem, letting investors access the Polkadot DeFi market. When it comes to tax time, Koinly can help you get your Polkawallet taxes done in a crunch - just connect via API or CSV. Here's how.

How to connect Polkawallet to Koinly via API

You'll need to get your wallet address for each blockchain you interact with using Polkawallet - for example Polkadot, Kusama and Edgeware. The instructions will be similar for each.

On Polkawallet

  1. Open the Polkawallet app.
  2. Select the wallet you'd like to connect by picking your network at the top of the screen - for example, Polkadot.
  3. Select the plus icon in the top right.
  4. Select my QR code.
  5. Select copy to copy your public address.

On Koinly

  1. Log in to Koinly and go to the wallets page.
  2. Select add new wallet.
  3. Search for Polkawallet.
  4. Select set up auto sync.
  5. Search for and select the blockchain you'd like to connect to - for example, Polkadot.
  6. Paste the public address you copied.
  7. Select import.

How to connect Polkawallet to Koinly via CSV

Polkawallet doesn't offer a CSV file export option just yet - however, you can use a blockchain explorer to get your Polkawallet transaction history CSV file or create a custom CSV file.

On Koinly

  1. Sign up or login into Koinly and head to wallets.
  2. Add a new wallet: Polkawallet.
  3. Select import from file.
  4. Upload your CSV file(s).

Good to know
If you have any crypto income - for example through staking - in your Polkadot wallet, make sure these are correctly tagged in Koinly for your country's tax rules.
