About
BlockBooks is a firm of Chartered Accountants specialising in UK cryptocurrency tax for individuals and accounting practices nationwide.
BlockBooks turns complex wallet and exchange histories into clear capital gains calculations, crypto income summaries and supporting tax reports. Its work covers everything from straightforward investing to high-volume trading, DeFi, staking, liquidity pools, bridging and NFTs.
The service combines detailed transaction reconciliation with experienced accountant review, clear explanations and transparent pricing. BlockBooks also works alongside other accountants, providing specialist crypto tax calculations and working papers while they retain the wider client relationship.
Experience and qualifications
BlockBooks is led by Tim Whitehouse, a Chartered Accountant who qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) in 2008. He has over 20 years’ experience in accountancy and business finance.
Tim trained at EY, starting in audit before progressing to Manager in Transaction Support. His experience includes acquisition due diligence, restructurings and stock market transactions. He subsequently built and sold a cloud accounting practice serving more than 300 clients.
He brings this background in financial investigation, accounting systems and tax compliance to complex cryptocurrency records. His approach emphasises careful reconciliation, documented professional judgement and clear reporting.
