FAQs
What is Movement?
Movement is a blockchain ecosystem built by Movement Labs that leverages the Move programming language and its virtual machine for secure, resource-oriented smart contracts while also supporting EVM compatibility for easy migration of existing dApps. It enables developers to launch modular rollups with customizable components such as data availability, sequencers, and settlement mechanisms, all anchored to Ethereum for security. Key innovations include fast-finality settlement for quick transaction confirmation, a decentralized shared sequencer to enhance fairness and interoperability, and infrastructure designed to unify liquidity across Move-based chains. By combining speed, safety, modularity, and compatibility, Movement aims to make Move more widely adopted while reducing fragmentation across blockchain ecosystems.
Is Movement safe?
Movement is technically designed with safety in mind, using the secure Move language, audited code, and bug bounty programs, but concerns remain around its governance and token management. Past controversies over hidden agreements, large token dumps, and insider influence have raised questions about trust and transparency. In short, it appears reasonably safe for developers from a technical standpoint, but investors and users should be cautious about the non-technical risks tied to leadership, governance, and token economics.
Does Movement provide tax documents?
No, Movement doesnât provide tax forms to its users. The simplest way to work out your Movement taxes and generate a crypto tax report is by using a crypto tax calculator such as Koinly. With Koinly, you can connect your Movement wallet by adding your public address, and it will automatically pull in your Movement transaction history through the API. From there, it calculates your gains, losses, and income, and creates the tax reports you need to file with ease.
